HEALING PROPERTIES OF AYURVEDIC HERBS  presented by Linda Tipke, Ayurvedic Health Counselor, Member of  NAMA the National Ayurvedic Medical Association and Yoga Alliance. As a life long student and practitioner of Ayurveda I continue to benefit from this ancient science of life. For over 5,000 years Ayurveda has helped people find balance and health in mind, body and spirit.  One pillar of health is diet, and there is very little distinction between food and medicine in this science. Herbs are the foremost medicines of Ayurveda and are put in food for taste and medicinal effects.  After food, a strong influence on one's constitution (doshas)) are spices. Spices are obtained from the roots, flowers, fruits, seeds, or bark of plants or herbs. They have different active principles which have specific functions within the body. In this session we will discuss these principles, the influence of taste, the action of several (not all) spices, and how they are used as medicine.  We will conclude the session by preparing spices for the seasons and your individual constitution.

BACH FLOWER REMEDIES:  Self-Care of mind ,body and spirit for wellness Presented by Rori Coleman, Reiki Master Practitioner, Self-Reiki Teacher and Self-Care Advocate

In the current climate of today’s world it is so very important for each of us to have a personally designed Self-Care practice which restores balance to our mind, body and spirit. In my life, I strive to bring balance to my mind, body and spirit through a combination of practices that bring me joy and peace. As a Reiki Master Practitioner and Self-Reiki Teacher, Self-Reiki is a foundational part of my personal practice. I use Self-Reiki as a way to “check-in” with my body and listen for the types of messages that inform my self-care and give me insight into myself both physically and emotionally. It was through Self-Reiki that I was reintroduced to the practice of Bach Flower Remedies, which are designed to bring balance to the mind. I believe strongly in the ancient wisdom of the body healing itself. The path to wellness requires a health mind. The body will follow the mind. Clearing the mind of thoughts and feelings that promote dis-ease is a fundamental benefit of the use of Bach Flowers Remedies.

In this workshop I am excited to share with you my personal journey with Bach Flower Remedies, which began in the early 1980’s, as well as the impact of this decades old gentle method of self-care that originated in England in the 1930’s. Through the use of herbal blends, mostly flowers and trees, Dr. Edward Bach created a system to help identify and balance the types of stressors known to perpetuate dis-ease. The Bach Flower Remedies helps to bring balance and ease to the mind and spirit. In doing so Bach Flower Remedies enables the body to follow a clear path to wellness. For me, my self-care practice would not be complete without incorporating a Reiki self-healing session with the natural beauty of the Bach Flower Remedies.

TRANSITION TEA” aka MEDITATION IN A CUP!  presented Rev. Margo Mullein Nelson, a Certified Life Cycle Celebrant, and a practicing, certified herbalist who has enjoyed a lifelong connection with the earth. Since 1998 Margo has committed herself to providing opportunities for others to deepen their relationship to themselves and the natural world through Ceremony & Ritual, Consults & Classes, Gardens & Plant Medicine.  She enjoys working with those who are seeking to Celebrate Meaningful Moments, desiring Wellness & Balance,  or Learning more about what the Earth has to Offer.  Margo offers her unique services to individuals, groups and organizations. believing that each of us has a gift to share.

The session will begin as you step into nature to enhance the experience of being intentional with a mindful walk to meet and greet the beneficial wild plants growing in the Wiawaka landscape. This will be a taste, touch and smell experience, during which, you will be invited to do a simple harvest, for the purpose of enjoying a Transition Tea practice on your own. Once finished, I invite you to open yourself and surrender to an experience where a simple cup of tea will serve as the catalyst for change, truly.  Part Ritual.  Part Soothing.  All Fun!  I will share how this intentional practice has blessed my own life.
