Last year 139 people volunteered for Wiawaka and logged in about 3755 hours of time. Wiawaka operates with a year round staff of 1 full time director, 1 part-time bookkeeper, caretaker and registrar and 6 to 7 seasonal staff. In addition to the opportunities listed below, the Buildings & Grounds Committee and Development Committee need volunteers. Please contact Christine Dixon at 518-203-3101 or director@wiawaka.org if you're interested in volunteering.
May 11: One day clean up from 9am-5pm of Fuller House, Wiawaka's main building. Lunch provided.
May 26 & 27: Opening Cleanup is held this year on Memorial Day Weekend because it's the only weekend we can do it! In exchange for your time cleaning and preparing rooms and buildings, we provide meals on Saturday and Sunday. Because of the holiday weekend, you're welcome to spend Sunday night at Wiawaka free but no meals will be provided after Sunday lunch. Bring your own linens and energetic friends. Many hands make light work!
Friday Hostesses: Welcome and orient guests arriving at Wiawaka each Friday. Hostess program begins Friday July 6th to Friday August 24th. Volunteers work from 2-6pm. If interested but unable to attend the scheduled training, training will be provided individually.
Aug 15 & 16: Day Assistant needed to help any veterans with mobility issues during a 2 day retreat. Duties will be limited to assisting during meals and chauffeuring to and from workshops with a golf cart.
Oct 6 & 7: Closing Cleanup is the final cleaning and shut down of Wiawaka. Meals provided Saturday and Sunday. Please bring your own linens.
Year round: Currently considering applicants to serve on Wiawaka's Board of Directors. Wiawaka's Board of Directors is a governing Board focusing on strategy and fundraising. Trustees may serve two three year terms. Applicants must submit a letter of interest to Wiawaka's Board
President, Peg Mackey, and an application which is reviewed by the full Board. Please submit your letter of interest care of Christine Dixon to director@wiawaka.org.
