Named after Mary Wiltsie Fuller, Wiawaka's founder, the Fuller Respite Program is a dedicated fund which provides financial assistance to those who cannot afford Wiawaka's regular season rates. Generally, it's designed to provide assistance to women living on little to no income. Applying consists of a confidential conversation with a member of Wiawaka's staff. Requests for financial assistance are strictly confidential but necessary so we may serve as many women as possible. The amount of subsidy will vary from individual to individual and is not intended to pay for your entire stay. That said, exceptions can and will be made under certain circumstances.
It is Wiawaka's intention to serve as many women as possible with smaller subsidies. To do so, we may suggest you visit during the week when rates are lower, or shorten your stay so the amount of subsidy is therefore lower. Each season a predetermined amount of funds will be available. Receiving a subsidy one year does not guarantee future subsidies.
To request assistance from the Fuller Respite Program please call Gretchen Morton at 1-877-468-8128.
Please make a tax deductible donation to the Fuller Respite Program.
Your donation helps a woman visit Wiawaka who is unable to afford respite without your help. The reasons for needing help vary and the benefits each woman feels by taking time for herself are personal and powerful.
Here are some comments from some women helped by the Fuller Respite Program...
"Life is full of challenges some more
difficult than others. I've been coming to Wiawaka for close to
eight years and in the beginning I had a steady job and was able to make
day trips with coworkers. As the economy faltered in 2008 I went
through losing jobs and financial resources dried up. I still
struggled to be able to come up to Wiawaka for an over night stay.
This year my need to be at Wiawaka was very important and I had no
resources. I requested for the first time help from the Fuller
House Respite Program which I was gratefully accepted by the program.
As I expressed to you on my arrival that when
I turned into the Wiawaka road way I said to my self I'm home. The
overall experience for me is total relaxation, peace, and the added
bonus of great food, conversation, a great night sleep, fresh air and
quiteness. This was my first experience at trying Pilates with
Kathy and I always look forward to doing Yoga with you. When I
left heading back home I had never felt so balanced.
