We are looking for twin size vintage headboards - iron, Jenny Lind and brass specimens most appreciated to contribute to our "granny chic" aesthetic. Vintage quilts are also welcome. We will be holding a raffle and silent auction in late June in conjunction with a fashion show fundraiser. We welcome articles that can be raffled and auctioned (see below). We are also enthusiastically encouraging and accepting donations of cookbooks (especially the spiral bound community cookbook variety) in anticipation of a sale this summer. So bring them along when you visit.
Buy
tickets to our fundraiser in June 2007. This will take place in Saratoga at The Hall of Springs on June 25th. Individual tickets are $75 and a table of ten is $750. If you would like to be invited to the event kindly send us an e-mail with your name and address. We'll be happy to send you one. Just
email us if you would like to donate an item for the raffle or auction.

Leave something to Wiawaka in your will or take out an insurance policy
which names Wiawaka as a beneficiary. A financial advisor can explain how
this may not only benefit Wiawaka and future generations of women - but also
reduce your taxes or generate immediate income for you.
Give
a gift certificate to a loved one who would benefit from a visit to Wiawaka.
Contact director@wiawaka.org to arrange this.
Sponsor
a fundraiser party where instead of bringing gifts people are encouraged to
make a donation to Wiawaka. Thousands have been raised in this fashion. Kindly contact director@wiawaka.org for details.
Become
a Wiawaka member - For $10 (or more if your budget allows). Your membership
supports our scholarship program for women who might not otherwise be able
to come.
Introduce
new friends to Wiawaka. The best advertising is word of mouth. People who
love and cherish Wiawaka are the best spokespeople of all. We can
accommodate more people than we currently serve. Please bring a friend on
your next visit.
Spend
As much as you can afford per night when you come to stay. The reality is
that it costs approximately $100 per night to house and feed each guest. We
are as creative and careful as possible in the use of our funds (including
the endowment) so that we can provide scholarships - but our means are
limited and we badly want to move on to the task of restoring our beloved
Wakonda. So please be as generous as you can.
Restore
Wakonda with us. We have received a grant from the New York State Department of Parks for $149,000 - half of the total estimated restoration cost. Contributions to the Wakonda Fund are gratefully accepted.
Volunteer your time and talents.
Hundreds of people do. Help with spring clean up or fall closing - pre and
post season. This year's spring clean up takes place on May 19 and May 20th. Please e-mail
khaviland@nycap.rr.com and cc director@wiawaka.org if you can come. During the season there are lots of ways volunteers can help --- could be working in the garden,
painting a chair, helping with dishes, to
answer phones, or touring a prospective guest around the property. We post
a list of "to do's" on the bulletin board and you can sign yourself up.
People donate many thousands (no kidding) hours of service to Wiawaka each
year. It simply wouldn't be possible for us to operate without help like
this.
Our fall cleanup will be from October 12th to 14th.
