The Story Walker
Hear the story of the Cohoes and Troy mill workers world before they arrived at Camp Wiawaka and the world to which they returned. The history of the mill workers, in their own words, tells of the work done, the times in which they lived and the need for Unions so they could make a living wage.
This workshop offers the rare opportunity to learn the process of a traditional
Adirondack craft, called an end of the day mill piece, using authentic Cluett & Peabody shirt pieces. Due to the limited availability of the shirt pieces a craft packet fee of $12.00 is charged.
The words of the mill workers are based on oral interviews done by Mrs. Marcotte and the papers and oral tradition of Maggie Sheridan Harrigan. New York State Achieves states that Maggie may be the only mill hand who wrote of the mills. We are planning on interweaving the voices to set the stage for why vacations were needed. The second part will be hands on activities, one on union and one on the
end of the day mill pieces.
Presenters Ruby Marcotte and Kathleen Gill
Material fee of $12.00

A Writing Retreat
Waters that ripple, waters that roil, relax and renew.
Water is a symbol of emotions, and of the unconscious, the inner place that gives birth to creativity and art. Each of us is a treasure house of experiences, feelings, thoughts and ideas, but they need time, space, and encouragement to emerge into consciousness, and be formed into works of art-memoirs, poems, stories and essays. A writing retreat is a place for this to happen in a beautiful, inspiring and supportive environment.
Facilitated by Jeanne Heiberg MFA, published author/artist.
Jeanne Heiberg has a published works record of 15 books, in over 200 magazine/newspaper articles and media kits. She is a contributing editor and writes features and the column Symbol Talk for a Peter Li magazine for teachers. A seasoned provider for workshops funded by Poets & Writers Inc. and the NYS Council on the Arts, she helps both beginners and experienced writers find their writing voice, get writing juices flowing, and overcome writer's blocks. Beginning and experience writers will find enjoyable, fun ways to tap their memories and get into the flow of writing. Pens, pencils and paper are all you need, along with casual clothing and a bathing suit for a dip in the lake.

Energy Medicine via Sharyn Flesher
Energy Medicine is an ancient Eastern modality for healing gaining popularity throughout the Western World. It is our birthright to be well, but when we do not listen to our body's signals, dis-ease
occurs. The Energy Medicine Practitioner is trained to gently re-align and balance the body's systems in order to restore health. Healers work through chakras (Sanskrit for wheel), energy centers which absorb
Universal Energy surrounding all of life on Earth.
An energy session includes the initial interview, grounding and centering, assessment, treatment and ending the session.
In our time together we will discuss different modalities including Reiki, Therapeitic Touch, Pranic Healing and Shamanic Healing. This will include how these modalities are similar and yet different. Each
modality will be demonstrated and volunteers are welcome. I have been studying energy and its gifts for healing for more than twenty years. I began as a way to find answers to the questions in my
life. I learned ways to help myself to heal and thus was able to extend the knowledge in my work as a registered nurse. This curiosity became my life and I have studied numerous systems and worked with all of them.

Wiawaka Weed Walk
Join Herbalist and Plant Intuitive, Margo Mullein Feron for a walk on Wiawaka property to visit the wild medicinal and edible plants that are native to the area. Our work during this two day workshop will be in the spirit of *Woman/Earth: Give/Receive.
We'll begin after lunch on the 4th with a wild weed walk; engaging our 6 senses to identify some plants, their qualities, signatures, and gifts for nutrition and healing. Then we'll branch out in a collective harvest of wild food, which we will offer to the kitchen as a contribution to the evening salad. While there's still light, we'll get out the pencils and paper, engage the Goddess within, and sketch plant portraits and chat about benefits the plants present specifically to women.
On the 5th, after breakfast, we'll begin our work with a Native American custom of honoring the spirit in all of life with a simple four direction ceremony. Then we'll take another walk, silently this time, focusing our attention to gather a single plant to be used in making an herbal vinegar preparation. Our imaginations will run wild as we discuss the many beneficial uses of herbal vinegars and the ways in which we'll apply them when we get home. We'll complete our work with the plants, after lunch. Using paint as medium we'll create Plant Identification Markers which will become a permanent installation throughout the Wiawaka property.

Opening the eyes of the Heart
As women we tend to define ourselves by the roles that we play. Whether it be mother, daughter, sister, friend, employee, care-giver or spouse we can get lost in these places. Who are we if we are not these things? This is the question we will ask ourselves as we look inside our hearts. Through the gentle practice of yoga, meditation, group discussion, painting and private journaling we will try to discover the quiet place inside us where peace has always been.
We will explore the place where we do not need to be anything but who we truly are.
Join me in a journey of self discovery, compassion and grace.
Cost: $140.00. This fee includes lodging, food and programming.
$50.00 deposit required. Please email KPanetta1@nycap.rr.com for registration forms and deposit information. This retreat is limited to 16 people.
